The 2″ Chip Paint Brush with natural bristles are used in the pipeline industry for the application of 2-part epoxy on girth welds. Can also be used in any other painting application.<\/span><\/p>\n The hairs are injected twice with epoxy, making them well seated. The hairs are combed twice. The process ensures a minimal chance of hairs breaking free from the paint brush and contaminating the coating. Natural bristles are made from some sort of animal hair, such as hog or badger. Synthetic bristles are often made from nylon, polyester, or a combination of both.<\/p>\n The only functional difference between a Natural Paint Brush and a Synthetic Paint Brush\u00a0is that Natural bristle brushes can be used with thinners whereas; Synthetic (filament) paint\u00a0brushes\u00a0cannot. Some say the synthetic (filament) paint brushes\u00a0gives a smoother, more even finish.\u00a0 Besides that, it\u2019s a matter of preference. Natural-bristle brushes are best for applying oil-based alkyd paints, and synthetic-bristle brushes are recommended for water-based latex paints.
