Brass Brush
A holiday detector brass brush is an electrode accessory used with a high-voltage holiday detector. The brass bristles are conductive and are designed to efficiently scan thicker protective coatings on metal surfaces to find pinholes, cracks, and other discontinuities.
A complete unit includes:
- 3″ Brass Brush (custom lengths)
- Brass Brush Adapter Kit
- Brass Brush Connector Tab
- Application: A high-voltage holiday detector sends an electrical charge through the conductive brass brush.
- Testing: The operator drags the brush over the non-conductive coating.
- Detection: If a defect (or “holiday”) is present, the electrical current passes through the gap in the coating to the conductive substrate (e.g., steel pipe), completing a circuit.
- Indication: The detector then signals the flaw with an audible alarm, a light, or both, allowing the inspector to identify and mark the area for repair.
