Polyguard RD-6
Polyguard RD-6 Tape is a system that allows cathodic protection currents to reach any disbonded area that occurs on the pipeline.
Polyguard RD-6 Tape consists of a fabric strengthened protective pipeline coating that is manual or machines applies overs the Polyguard 600 liquid adhesive . The coating comes in roll form for easy application by various commercial , manually or power operated machines.
RD-6 Tape can also be applies manually without a machine . Although it is important to recognize that much more tension can and should be used during its application than that which is normal for other types of products.
Polyguard RD-6 is a non-shielding coating. This means that if the RD-6 coating becomes disbanded, the pipeline beneath is still protected because cathodic protection currents will be able to reach the disbanded area. Once the current reaches the disbanded area, it will raise the pH of the water underneath it to 9 or higher – a level too high to support corrosion. Additionally, the RD-6’s geotextile fabric backing does not shield cathodic protection currents.
Each roll of RD-6 tape is 50 feet long.
2″ x 50′ POLYGUARD RD-6 HT 170, 24 rolls per case, 4″ x 50′ POLYGUARD RD-6 HT 170, 12 rolls per case, 6″ x 50′ POLYGUARD RD-6 HT 170, 8 rolls per case.
Polyguard 600 liquid adhesive: Rule of thumb – 1 gallon of primer per 1.5 cases of RD-6 tape
